COUNTRY PROFILE

The Commonwealth of Dominica was the last of the Caribbean islands to be colonized by Europeans.  The island was named after the Latin word Dominica (meaning Sunday), the day on which the island was first spotted by Christopher Columbus in 1493.  On November 3, 1978, the Commonwealth of Dominica was granted independence by the United Kingdom.

Dominica is serviced by two airports: Douglas-Charles (DOM), formerly known as Melville Hall, and Canefield (DCF) Airports. Most visitors to Dominica will arrive through Douglas-Charles, the larger airport.

DOMINICA CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT

Established in 1993, the Dominica Economic Citizenship Program offers individuals and families worldwide and irrevocable second citizenship with no visit to the country required.

The Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU), an established Government authority within the Ministry of Finance, enforces all regulations under the passport program and is the regulatory body that ensures proper due diligence on each applicant.
